We love general aviation and our hope is to inspire the youngest among us to become the aviators of the future by inspiring their hearts and minds with a ride in these little micro sized airplanes suitable for ages 3 to 7 years old.
Charles Helmholdt, originally from Grand Rapids is a Kendall Graduate in Interior Design. Soon after college he received his Private Pilots license. In 1976 he met Diane Kenter who is a graduate of Ferris State in Commercial Design and they married in 1977 and formed their own design firm that practiced in Grand Rapids and later in Los Angeles California where they worked on contract for Disney's Imagineering and specifically Euro Disney. They returned to Grand Rapids in 1991with two young children.
Upon their return, Chuck began working on a full size experimental cub type aircraft. In 2008 the aircraft made it's maiden flight.
Since then the airplane is now fitted with amphibious floats and Chuck uses his seaplane rating to operate the airplane on lakes and rivers. A few years ago Diane gave Chuck a set of plans to make small children sized airplanes which resulted in the Kiddy Kub Threesome. Today, Chuck and Diane are semi-retired and use their design skills to operate several online stores selling many of their graphic and craft designs.
